  • We support young people to get work in the low carbon economy and to become social entrepreneurs; we train youth leaders to become community champions to advocate for behaviour and life styles changes in local communities.
    Strategic Development and objectives

    Summary of key objectives and targets
    arising from the analysis of our resources and the needs of its stakeholders, below are our Strategic Objectives. These are aspects of our Business Plan which we will pursue over the course of the next three-five years.  A system of updating these Strategic Objectives and the Business Plan is in place to keep pace with changes in the environment, the needs of the stakeholders and the organisation itself.  Our Business Plan will therefore be periodically updated and reviewed to take into account such changes.

    Key Targets and criteria

    • Address the needs of socially excluded youth designing & delivering social, educational and employment sustainable development programmes in consultation and involving young people as principle stakeholders.
    • The design and delivery of innovative projects using an informal sustainable and climate change curriculum to promote behaviour and life style change using learning materials from a variety of educational sources with a focus to obtain clear learning outcomes and spread of best practice.
    • Address youth anti-social behaviour, social exclusion and youth employment in the provision   of green skills, embedding the principles of sustainable development ,the creation of education, training and employment pathways in the sustainable development and the low carbon economy and support the development and growth of green social enterprises.
    • Implement projects & programmes that are aimed to influence youth policy and good practice in areas of sustainable development and actions to mitigate and adapt to against climate change to reduce green house gases and carbon emissions and comply with UK Climate change legislation.
    • All programmes to be designed to take account a wider framework focused on social and environmental justice, fostering   social, community & corporate responsibility and working with diverse communities on joint programmes to promote social and community cohesion.

1. Rationale and principles

  • To facilitate the process of Sustainable development within local communities with an explicit focus on environmental limits and the development of an action plan and targets on five agreed priorities:
  • a)Sustainable consumption and production
    b) Climate Change
    c) Human  & natural resource management  its development & protection
    d) Sustainable Communities(locally and globally)

e) Employment, skills & training into the low carbon economy.

  • To work  with young people (11-25 years) and their communities  and with local and national partnership agencies ,networks and consortia ,employers and businesses who have a shared vision of promoting better understanding of sustainable development principles and climate change and ways of working together to achieve the 4 agreed priorities set above  and :-

a) To work towards the development of a set of Sustainable Development  Principles consistent with the Sustainable Development Framework for London to help guide regeneration  local and European Programmes. 
b) To work with local, national, European and international agencies to forge  closer partnerships at a local level for the benefit of local front line climate change and sustainable development services for  young people and communities in need.

2. Project Overview
To invest in people, places and forge partnerships with local communities to deliver a programme change management programme to transform attitudes and culture to adapt to climate change by adopting more sustainable ways of behaviour and low carbon  life styles,  sustainable patterns of consumption, skills to manage and utilise resources more effectively ,for example through energy saving & efficiency schemes, recycling   projects, growing own food and having access to affordable and healthy food using low carbon travel. To forge partnerships with a range of statutory and voluntary organisations and with green employers, social enterprises and young businesses to create a low carbon and sustainable green economy encouraging and promoting youth leadership in innovation in the provision of environmental goods and services, and creating greener’ versions of existing jobs .Young people in the UK need to share best practice with European and Commonwealth and to develop Joint European and International anti-poverty and sustainable development programmes.

3. Project Objectives:

  • To work with Educational Institutions (Schools, Colleges, Youth Services and third sector ) to promote sustainable development curriculum and raise awareness of climate change ,sustainable life styles and behaviour change;
  • To work  with local communities on  eco efficiency projects (promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy market)and on programmes that enable local communities to integrate sustainable development  in their home, work and in the neighbourhoods;
  • To work with local and diverse communities, public and private sector ,the cultural industries  to embed sustainable development principles  and address social and cultural deprivation  in areas of integration, social and community cohesion and social exclusion;
  • To work in partnerships with education and training providers to exploit new ideas, curriculum and accreditation ,transfer of technical  knowledge and advice, create new green/eco commercial opportunities and new green business innovation;
  • To work with employers to promote new learning opportunities and green skills in the sustainable development and green sectors through the creation of  green apprentices, green work placements, volunteering opportunities and to support their development into the low carbon economy through accredited training ,educational and training pathways.
  • To work in partnerships with London’s eco businesses ,public and private sector extracting value from London’s knowledge base to benefit London’s young eco-businesses , research and development innovation in the creation of small medium enterprises(SME's) and Eco- social enterprises  as part of a strategy of creating a highly skilled workforce ;
  • To develop best practice in the areas of sustainable development to share with UK and European partners showcasing new products and services influencing local, national and European policy and practice;
  • To work with local communities ,youth services and third sector to create Youth Forums /Parliaments as mechanisms for consultation, representation and implementation  of regeneration programmes , influence policy and practice in East London and beyond;
  • To work with European partners and overseas agencies on youth exchanges, the European Volunteer scheme to share knowledge and skills and promote sustainable development and ways to tackle climate change.

  • Values of openness, transparency, accountability and responsibility in the first instance towards funders, partners, young people and their families’ staff and trustees.
  • Address the needs of socially excluded groups particularly in the consultation, participation & delivery on sustainable Youth projects.

  • The management and delivery of youth initiatives that are aimed at delivering high quality results with a view to making them cost  effective and VFM.
  • The establishment of a rigorous evaluation programme that will monitor and assess the outcomes.

  • To develop knowledge of other funds in this field   
  • To develop innovative of presenting findings and outcomes that captures the imagination of young people, partners and funders      
  • To develop efficient Management, operational, quality performance and governance systems in the effective deployment of resources and in meeting the needs of local  young people and their communities   
  • Exhaust different sources of funding streams to sustain growth and development.
